Job Title: Senior Data Conversion Specialist – SAP to Workday
Location: Remote
About the Role
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Data Conversion Specialist with strong
expertise in SAP HCM/Payroll and proven hands-on experience in Workday data migration.
The ideal candidate will lead end-to-end data conversion activities, ensure data accuracy,
and support multiple stakeholders throughout the implementation lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Conversion Planning & Strategy
Lead the design and execution of SAP-to-Workday data conversion strategy.
Understand SAP data structures, infotypes, wage types, payroll results, benefits,
time data, and organizational objects.
Work closely with functional and technical teams to define data mapping rules and
transformation logic.
2. Data Extraction & Transformation
Extract HR, Payroll, Benefits, and Time data from SAP using tools like SAP HCM, SAP
Payroll clusters, SAP Queries, BAPIs, LSMW, or custom reports.
Clean, transform, and validate data according to Workday templates and conversion
rules.
Build and manage complex data mapping documents, crosswalks, and
transformation logic.
3. Workday Data Loads & Validation
Perform end-to-end data loads using Workday EIBs, iLoads, Studio integrations, and
data loading templates.
Resolve load errors, perform reconciliation, and ensure high-quality data migration.
Support mock conversions, cutover preparation, and post-go-live data loads.
4. Cross-functional Collaboration
Partner with Workday functional leads for HCM, Payroll, Absence, Benefits, Talent,
and Compensation.
Work with client business teams to understand legacy data, identify gaps, and
resolve discrepancies.
Collaborate with testing teams for data validation during SIT and UAT cycles.
5. Documentation & Governance
Prepare detailed mapping sheets, conversion design documents, test scripts, and
reconciliation reports.
Ensure compliance with data security and confidentiality policies.
Required Skills & Experience
7+ years of experience in data migration or HRIS implementations.
Strong expertise in SAP HCM / SAP Payroll data structures and reporting.
Hands-on experience in Workday data conversion, including EIB, iLoads, and
Workday data templates.
Ability to build and manage mapping documents, crosswalks, and transformation
logic.
Experience with HR master data, pay results, deductions, benefits, time &
attendance, and org structures.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and data validation skills.
Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, data cleanup).
Experience with SQL is a plus.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
Workday HCM/Payroll certification.
Experience with Workday Studio & Workday Reporting.
Prior participation in full-cycle SAP-to-Workday migration projects.
Experience in global HR transformations.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to lead discussions with business teams.
Problem-solving mindset and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work under pressure during cutover and go-live periods.
