Job Description
A stealth-mode startup is hiring a full-time AI/ML Engineer for a remote role, with optional on-site work in San Francisco. This company is building the next generation of work communication tools: an AI-native platform designed to reduce noise and improve productivity. The tech stack includes LLMs, RAG systems,Go, TypeScript, Python, and modern ML frameworks.
This is a rare opportunity to join a well-funded early-stage team working directly with experienced founders. The company is rethinking how teams communicate by integrating AI directly into the chat experience. They're looking for an AI/ML Engineer who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys shipping quickly, and wants to help shape the architecture and engineering culture from the ground up. You'll work on cutting-edge AI/ML integrations and have a direct impact on product direction and user experience.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of engineering experience, ideally including ML, NLP, or applied AI
2+ years hands-on with LLMs, transformers, and production-grade generative AI systems
2+ years experience with a server-side language (Go, TypeScript, Python, etc.)
Experience building RAG systems using LangChain, LlamaIndex, or custom stacks
Familiarity with evaluation tooling (e.g., Braintrust, Promptfoo) and quality metrics
Experience with multi-modal inputs, fine-tuning open models, or agent-style orchestration
Desired Skills & Experience
Startup experience or comfort with fast-paced environments
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Side projects or open-source contributions in AI/ML
Experience with hybrid retrieval, vector store tuning, and relevance optimization
