Durability Technician for Global Automotive Company in Raymond, OH

 

Position Summary:

 

Join a global automotive leader in Raymond, Ohio, as a Durability Technician in the Powersports Division, with a focus on ATV and Side-by-Side vehicle testing. This is a hands-on, mechanically focused position within the Durability Group, where you ll work closely with prototype vehicles throughout the full testing lifecycle from initial builds to teardown and evaluation.

This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, off-road driving experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct durability testing on four-wheel powersports vehicles (ATVs and Side-by-Sides).
  • Perform hands-on vehicle maintenance including brake service, oil changes, inspections, and other basic mechanical tasks.
  • Build vehicles from new and prototype parts, following strict test protocols and lifecycle requirements.
  • Drive and ride test units through rigorous off-road conditions to evaluate durability and reliability.
  • Tear down and evaluate vehicles post-testing for part wear, crack inspection, and structural integrity.
  • Transport vehicles using truck and trailer rigs; drive in rotation with a partner, following all DOT safety regulations.
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite tools to track test results and data.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while making sound technical judgments.
  • Regularly work overtime, with standard hours of 7:00 AM 3:30 PM and weekend availability as needed.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of hands-on mechanical or technician experience, or an associate degree with 4+ years of related experience.
  • Solid understanding of vehicle systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Previous automotive or powersports technician experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with attention to detail and commitment to test integrity.
  • Ability and willingness to perform extensive off-road driving and riding in varied terrain.
  • Previous experience inspecting and evaluating mechanical parts post-test for stress, cracks, or wear.
  • Comfortable with long travel assignments, including extended time away from home in winter months (3-4 weeks at a time).
  • Capable of operating trucks and towing trailers; familiarity with DOT physical requirements is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Capable of working independently all while collaborating with other technicians and engineers.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Off-road or powersports vehicle experience (ATVs, Side-by-Sides, dirt bikes, etc.).
  • Prior experience driving large vehicles or towing trailers over long distances.

 

Location: Raymond, Ohio (Onsite required)

Type: Contract

Duration: 12 months with a possibility of a 12-month extension

Travel: Domestic Travel for winter testing (typically 3 4 weeks at a time, Nov March) to warmer climates.
