Role Title: Senior Network Engineer

Duration: 1 year

Preferred Location: 4 days onsite in Glenview, IL (Fridays remote)

Role Description:
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and operation of our clients corporate, international, edge, and data center networks. This role ensures the security, stability, and integrity of wired and wireless network services, while driving innovation through automation and open-source tooling. The engineer will collaborate across infrastructure, application, service desk and end-user teams to deliver resilient and scalable network solutions.
Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and operate efficient network configurations supporting services such as LAN/WAN, VoIP telephony, building automation systems, conference room technology, and data center connectivity.
  • Create and maintain network automation scripts to streamline operations and improve consistency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues using both commercial and open-source toolsets.
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize network hardware, software, and communication links.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for network architecture, configuration, mapping, and service records.
  • Participate in network infrastructure deployments and upgrades across corporate and international sites.
  • Provide end-user training and support as needed.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to junior members on the network team.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience (minimum 5 years).
  • Preferred certifications: CCNP or CCIE.
  • Experience with network automation scripting using Ansible and Python.
  • Deep understanding of routing protocols, especially BGP and OSPF.
  • Proficiency in LAN/WAN technologies, including VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and wireless networking.
  • Experience with Cisco technologies (e.g., Nexus 5000/7000, IOS 4500, ASA 5500, ISR).
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto firewalls and F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager.
  • Hands-on experience with open-source network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Working knowledge of ISP circuit provisioning and vendor-diverse environments.
  • Experience with Linux platforms for network operations and tooling.
