Looking for a Senior PostgreSQL Administrator manages, maintains, and optimizes PostgreSQL databases, ensuring their performance, availability, and security. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing database schemas, managing backups and replication, tuning database performance, supporting developers with complex queries, and implementing disaster recovery and high availability solutions. Senior roles also involve scripting for automation, working, and participating in 24/7 on-call rotations for incident support and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Performance Tuning: Analyze, tune, and optimize database performance, including query analysis, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
- Maintenance & Operations: Perform regular maintenance, such as backups, restores, upgrades, and patching, to ensure database health and security.
- High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR): Design, implement, and manage HA/DR solutions to ensure continuous operation and data recoverability. Experience with Repmgr, HA Proxy is preferred.
- Database Design: Design and implement database schemas, partitioning, and indexing strategies for efficient data management.
- Security: Monitor and manage database security, responding to security alerts and ensuring data integrity.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts and tools (e.g., using Python, PowerShell, Ansible) to automate routine tasks and processes.
