IT PROJECT MANAGER II/III
Position Number: S-3784
Position Summary:
As a member of the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), this position performs various levels of coordination and management of information technology (IT) projects and portfolios throughout the project management lifecycle. As this position progresses through the levels, direct responsibilities and independent work increase. These include independently developing project plans and providing recommendations, leading cross-functional teams, and becoming a subject matter expert in project management, IT business practices, and applicable standards. At the direction of the Deputy CIO, this position may assist with or facilitate OCIO capabilities including IT strategy, governance, project and portfolio management, financial stewardship, performance measurement, organizational change management, strategic supplier management, workforce management, marketing and communications, knowledge management, and event management.
Required Qualifications:
Project Manager I
Bachelor's degree (IT or project management preferred) or equivalent experience
1+ year of project administration experience
Skills in requirements gathering, planning, organizing, and executing small to medium projects
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Project Manager II
Meets all requirements of Level I
3-5 years of IT project administration experience
Experience with RFQ /RFP development and Agile methodologies
Knowledge of PMI standards
Ability to lead medium to large projects
Project Manager III
Meets all requirements of Level II
5-9 years of IT project administration experience
Proven business analysis and process optimization in complex environments
Ability to lead large, high-complexity programs
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in higher education IT
PMP certification or progress toward certification
Prosci certification or progress towards certification
Knowledge of BABOK Guide and Agile methodologies
Training/certification in Agile approaches
Experience in modeling notation and flowcharting
High-level client service skills
Direct experience with OCIO capabilities listed in General Statement of Duties
Duties & Responsibilities:
Project Manager I
Participate in project design meetings and propose improvements
Generate/distribute reports and maintain project documentation
Coordinate team workflow and ensure deadlines are met
Communicate with stakeholders and document requirements
Monitor budgets and implement cost-saving measures
Lead project planning, tracking, and change management
Assist with testing and ensure requirements traceability
Promote teamwork and apply lessons learned
Project Manager II
All duties of Level I, plus:
Manage multiple, more complex projects
Support business objectives and strategic direction
Collaborate with business partners and document requirements
Provide thought leadership on tools and processes
Project Manager III
All duties of Level II, plus:
Lead large, high-complexity programs
Mentor and direct other project managers
Drive process improvements and manage cross-unit programs
Assist with OCIO capabilities listed in General Statement of Duties
Oversee vendor contracts and negotiations
