About the Role
As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of technology solutions that support critical business operations. You'll work on low to moderately complex projects, focusing on mainframe systems, integration technologies, and service quality improvements. This role requires a strong foundation in COBOL, SQL, and Java, along with experience in XML, GitHub, and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE).

Job Title: Software Engineer - Mainframe & Integration Technologies
Location: Minneapolis, MN
About the Role
As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of technology solutions that support critical business operations. You'll work on low to moderately complex projects, focusing on mainframe systems, integration technologies, and service quality improvements. This role requires a strong foundation in COBOL, SQL, and Java, along with experience in XML, GitHub, and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE).
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of software solutions for low to moderately complex projects.
- Participate in installation, upgrade, and deployment efforts across technology platforms.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve service quality, system availability, and operational efficiency.
- Analyze technical challenges, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions aligned with business and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution of issues and adherence to service level agreements.
- Document technical designs, processes, and procedures to support knowledge sharing and compliance.
- Develop a working knowledge of security and compliance standards relevant to the technology domain.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent through work, education, or military service.
- Proficiency in COBOL programming and mainframe systems.
- Basic understanding of Assembler language.
- Experience with SQL, Java, and Eclipse IDE.
- Working knowledge of XML/XSD and GitHub version control.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EZTRIEVE and REXX scripting.
- Familiarity with DB2, VSAM, CICS, JCL, PROC, Endeavor, CA7, and MQ.
- Prior experience in the banking or financial services industry.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies, ServiceNow, and software testing practices.
- Hands-on experience with IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), including message flow development and integration using MQ, Kafka, and ESQL.
- Understanding of COBOL/JSON message formatting and queue browsing tools like IR360.
