Senior Data Center Commissioning & Infrastructure Engineer with deep commissioning experience across MEP, IT, and control systems, and the ability to lead high-impact infrastructure and network projects. JOB DESCRIPTION
Senior Data Center Commissioning & Infrastructure Engineer with deep commissioning experience across MEP, IT, and control systems, and the ability to lead high-impact infrastructure and network projects. This role is ideal for a cross-functional leader who can transition seamlessly between data center commissioning, hybrid infrastructure, and modern enterprise networking solutions-including SD-WAN and application-centric architectures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Commissioning Leadership
- Lead full-lifecycle commissioning of mission-critical data centers, from planning and pre-functional checks through IST and turnover.
- Develop and execute commissioning scripts for mechanical, electrical, BAS/BMS, and IT systems.
- Coordinate FAT/SAT procedures and manage issue resolution across vendors and subsystems.
- Interface directly with client stakeholders and construction teams during energization, testing, and handover phases.
- Ensure compliance with industry commissioning standards (ASHRAE, Uptime, BICSI) and internal QA/QC protocols.
Enterprise Infrastructure Delivery
- Design and validate network infrastructure, including L2/L3 switch and router configurations, VLANs, access control, and WAN edge.
- Deploy and support SD-WAN solutions and optimize WAN/edge architecture for reliability and performance.
- Architect and manage virtualized environments, including VMware vSphere, Nutanix AHV, and Hyper-Vfor production and lab use.
- Support application-centric networking environments, such as Cisco ACI or equivalent policy-based systems, with a focus on application performance, segmentation, and service chaining.
- Collaborate on hybrid cloud integration including Azure/AWS connectivity, ExpressRoute/Direct Connect, and cloud gateway configurations.
- Provide oversight for rack elevation planning, structured cabling (fiber/copper), patch panels, and environment readiness.
Cross-Functional Flexibility
- Step into high-value technical roles during non-commissioning periods:
- Data center migrations and remote site infrastructure deployments
- Cloud onboarding, legacy modernization, and DR testing
- Monitoring and observability setup (SNMP, SolarWinds, DCIM platforms)
- Infrastructure automation using scripting tools (PowerShell, Python)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 7+ years in data center commissioning or infrastructure engineering roles.
- Deep knowledge of critical power, cooling, controls, and facility automation systems.
- Strong experience with enterprise networking, including SD-WAN and L2/L3 architectures.
- Hands-on experience with virtualization (VMware, Nutanix) and application-centric networking technologies.
- Strong client-facing communication and ability to lead multi-disciplinary field teams.
- Proficient with commissioning tracking tools and structured testing workflows.
Preferred
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid infrastructure models.
- Familiarity with Cisco ACI, SD-WAN platforms (Cisco Viptela, Meraki, Fortinet, or Silver Peak).
- Knowledge of DCIM, SNMP-based monitoring, or network observability platforms.
- Scripting for automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Relevant certifications: LEED AP, CxA, BICSI RCDD, Nutanix NCP/NCAP, VMware VCP, Cisco CCNP/DevNet, Network+, PMP.
