Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Communications Specialist, SME position. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented group of individuals committed to driving success.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, and executing communication strategies that enhance organizational awareness, stakeholder engagement, and adoption of initiatives supported by the BMC3I Elite platform. This role ensures cohesive messaging across programs, manages communication workflows within BMC3I systems, and supports digital transformation through clear, consistent, and targeted communication products.

The ideal candidate brings proven communication leadership experience and a strong understanding of how to leverage BMC3I Elite tools to optimize communication processes, automate messaging, and support enterprise-wide information campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

The Communications Specialist, SME will:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive internal communication strategies for initiatives supported by BMC3I Elite
  • Create and manage communication plans, messaging frameworks, stakeholder engagement strategies, and outreach activities
  • Produce high-quality communication products, including briefings, talking points, newsletters, reports, FAQs, and multimedia content
  • Utilize BMC3I Elite/Helix tools to support communication workflows, notifications, approvals, dashboards, and automated messaging
  • Maintain communication-related content within BMC3I modules and ensure accuracy of information
  • Enhance communication effectiveness through data-driven insights, analytics, and platform capabilities
  • Collaborate with program managers, technical teams, and leadership to translate complex program information into clear, actionable messaging
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions, workshops, and communication forums
  • Provide communication support for executive briefings, decision boards, and program updates
  • Support change management efforts, including awareness campaigns, training materials, adoption strategies, and internal branding
  • Monitor communication effectiveness and recommend improvements to increase outreach impact
  • Ensure communication efforts align with organizational goals, governance standards, and messaging consistency
  • Maintain communication repositories, style guides, templates, and documentation standard
  • Conduct reviews to ensure messaging accuracy, consistency, and quality
  • Support audits, compliance checks, and reporting requirements as needed


Responsibilities

Skills & Experience

The Communications Specialist, SME must have:

  • Active TS/SCI with SAP Eligible
  • 15+ years of experience in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, public affairs, or enterprise communications support
  • 12+ years in instructional design or training delivery
  • Experience using BMC3I Elite, BMC3I Helix, or comparable enterprise platforms to support communication workflows
  • Strong proficiency in communication planning, messaging development, content creation, and data-driven communication strategy
  • Ability to translate technical and program information into clear, compelling content for diverse audiences
  • Experience with digital communication tools, automation, dashboards, and analytics Experience supporting IT, program management, or digital transformation initiatives (highly desirable)
  • Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and visual communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple communication initiatives in fast-paced environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels

Education & Certifications

The Communications Specialist, SME must meet the following:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field


Preferred

  • Master's degree (MBA, MA in Communications, or similar)
  • Strategic Communications or Public Affairs Certifications (e.g., IABC, PRSA)
  • Change Management Certifications (e.g., Prosci)
  • ITIL v4 Foundation -
  • BMC3I Elite/BMC3I Helix platform training or certification
  • Project Management or Agile certifications (e.g., PMP, CSM, SAFe)

Security Clearance

A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
