Summary

The Application Development Manager designs, builds, implements, and supports vendor-packaged and custom solutions to enhance Elevations Credit Union s core banking platform (Symitar) and enterprise applications. This role leads a team of developers, collaborates with business units and IT teams, and ensures delivery of high-quality solutions aligned with strategic goals using agile methodologies.

Essential Functions

  • Manage and supervise the core development team across scrum teams, overseeing resource planning and allocation.

  • Collaborate with the Enterprise PMO to ensure timely delivery and participate in stakeholder ceremonies.

  • Foster a team-oriented environment that promotes professional development, diversity, collaboration, and quality.

  • Lead design, development, and governance to deliver efficient, high-quality software solutions.

  • Drive continuous improvement in application management, analyzing user feedback and performance metrics.

  • Define design patterns, review code, and ensure compliance with coding and security standards.

  • Manage vendor relationships, staying informed on vendor roadmaps to maintain a robust application architecture.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience; B.S. in Computer Science preferred.

  • 6+ years experience with financial institution technologies (e.g., Jack Henry Symitar, Synapsys, Synergy, SymXchange, ARCU, MeridianLink, Encompass, Alkami, COTS, Image Center, OpCon).

  • Expertise in software development methodologies, version control, and testing practices.

  • Proven leadership and people management skills, emphasizing coaching, mentoring, and team motivation.

  • Ability to influence executive leadership.

  • Knowledge of agile and iterative project management practices.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent.

  • Hands-on experience with Symitar/PowerOn/RepGen development and integration.

  • Experience with IBM AIX operating system.

  • Proficiency in SQL, HTML, and JavaScript.

  • Knowledge of ITIL framework and engineering process implementation.
