Job Description

Position Summary

The Engineer I, Product is responsible for supporting product improvements through adherence to established design control processes, good engineering and documentation practices. The key responsibility of this position is to complete basic projects assigned by more experienced engineers and managers, that involve existing products while following standard practices and procedures in a support role while being closely managed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Immediate Expectations
    • Complete activities/tasks, track and report project progress by referencing existing work to complete similar projects and improving on previous work.
    • Support project timelines and milestones and bring them to completion on time and within budget
    • Works under supervision of more experienced engineers. Regular assignments are completed with minimum supervision.
    • Assist in completion of CAPA tasks and deliverables (Corrective and Preventive)
    • Work on special projects as they arise
    • Support Production with Specification review, changes and product issues by participating in root cause investigations (go-n-see, taking pictures, reviewing tolerance stack-up and measurement results)
  • Long term expectations
  • Support initiatives for continuous process and product improvements
  • Provides input to the product teams regarding the development of new designs, methods or processes.
  • May assist in training new employees with respect to documentation, use of equipment, laboratory techniques and department procedures.
  • Delivers communications tailored to the needs of the receiver (managers, peers, customers) with appropriate frequency to maximize its utility and promote cross-functional collaboration

Knowledge & Skills
  • Has engineering foundation - understanding of strength of materials, automation, plastic injection molding, testing, CAD experience, interpret 2D drawings
  • Use of office suite, technical writing competency and statistical analysis
  • Good verbal/written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail along with time management skills are required
  • Expected to spend majority of time learning and best practices.
  • Has a basic understanding engineering discipline
  • Willingness to learn/understand big picture.
  • Ability to complete projects with minimum supervision.
  • Requires the ability to provide input and recommendations that impact the completion of project goals.

Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (Engineering or Technology)
  • 0-2 years' experience

Work Environment
  • This is largely a sedentary role.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
  • Work may be performed in a clean room environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods of time; depending on the machine they are operating
  • Must be able to occasionally move and lift objects of up to 25 lbs
  • Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
