About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Modeler with strong expertise in SQL, data cataloging, and metadata/data governance to join a leading retail client based in Seattle, WA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining data models and ensuring the integrity, quality, and usability of enterprise data assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop logical and physical data models to support retail business initiatives.

  • Create and maintain data catalogs and metadata repositories.

  • Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data governance policies are enforced.

  • Drive data standardization and lineage documentation across multiple data domains.

  • Optimize data structure and access strategies for analytical and operational use cases.

  • Support regulatory and compliance initiatives related to data privacy and governance.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in data modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical).

  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL and relational database systems.

  • Proficient in data cataloging tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or similar).

  • Solid understanding of metadata management and data governance frameworks.

  • Experience in the retail industry is highly preferred.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

  • Experience with big data technologies or modern data stack tools.
