Student Intern
Pre-Construction Project Manager
Assist in the initial stages of pre-construction planning and project development. Collaborate with project managers and other internal stakeholders, such as Campus Planning, Construction Management and Engineering, to gather project requirements and understand scope. Support the preparation of basic cost estimates and budget proposals, ensuring alignment with organizational standards. Track early project costs, maintaining accurate documentation for financial reporting. Gain experience in evaluating cost effectiveness and contributing to the early phases of project management processes.

Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) with up to 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree. Assumes work equivalency (1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience). Students working towards Bachelor's/ undergraduate degree in construction management, construction engineering, engineering, or related degree may apply!

Responsibilities

Responsibilities
Opportunities throughout the U Facilities team to contribute to our GIS, Project Services and Construction Mgmt teams and gain hands on experience in the A/E/C industry.

Work within the software platforms within U Facilities to support project teams and members with project assistance in the office and on job sites.
Perform BIM and CADD support and services within given parameters alongside respective project team on small to large scale projects including Capital Improvements and Capital Development projects
Assists with the preparation of presentations and performing basic analytical tasks for team/client review as needed. May require drafting, modeling, GIS, space use investigations, etc. Helps compile data and conducts research for the project team
Collaborates with team members and may work on multiple projects from inception to completion to gain exposure to all aspects of the design and construction process.

Architectural Designer, I

Plan and design new or existing structures, including commercial buildings, private residences, urban developments, and other structural properties. Consult with clients to assess the purpose, objectives, budget requirements, and design needs of buildings. Prepare proposals, presentations, and reports for clients with regards to safety standards, design expectations, project specifications, and compliance with government regulations. Ensure successful design by producing scale or technical drawings, blueprints, and architectural models using computer-aided design (CAD) and other tools. May coordinate activities of active projects and work closely with clients, drafters, technicians, and engineers. Typically work is reviewed by a licensed architect or senior member of design team. Does not require architectural licensure/registration. Requires basic skill set and proficiency. Conducts work assignments as directed. Closely supervised with little latitude for independent judgment.

Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.

This is an Entry-Level position in the General Professional track.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferences
  • Currently earning a professional degree in Engineering or Construction Mgmt
  • Working knowledge of BIM drafting including Revit preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Sketchup, AutoCad, Creative Suite and other Adobe and drafting/presentation tools.
