Job Details
Resource 1 is in need of a Sr. Back-End Developer, proficient in AWS, Node.JS and MySQL for a remote contract with our client starting the modernization of their freight rate management. This is long-term with the possibility of extensions or a conversion to permanent. This effort focuses on replacing manual processes with automated solutions and building a scalable, modern AWS (EC2/ S3/ RDS/ Lambda) infrastructure/ platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain back-end services and APIs to support the new platform.
- Collaborate closely with front-end developers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and feature delivery.
- Architect and manage MySQL database schemas, queries, and optimizations for high-performance data retrieval.
- Build and maintain AWS infrastructure components including EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda to ensure scalability and uptime.
- Integrate New Relic for application monitoring, alerts, and logging configuration.
- Write clean, maintainable code in Node.js (as well as Python and Java, when required).
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain a high standard of quality.
- Document technical designs, system architecture, and deployment procedures.
Must-Have Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of back-end development experience with strong focus on database development.
- Proficiency in Node.js and Java (with working knowledge of Python).
- Deep expertise with MySQL databases including schema design and optimization.
- Strong experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda).
- Experience working with large data volumes and generating reports.
- Background in logistics, transportation, or freight rate management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with New Relic monitoring, alert setup, and dashboard configuration.
- Familiarity with feature flag tools such as Switch.io and CloudBees.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
- Strong systems-thinking mindset and the ability to distill complex processes into clear, maintainable code.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
