We are revolutionizing the way orthopaedic implants and robotic procedures are designed and implanted with industry leading modeling and simulation technologies. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineer to apply and develop innovative simulation methodologies to characterize and optimize next generation implant designs, processes, and surgical procedures.
As the Senior Engineer, you must be able to demonstrate an ability to execute the following functions:
* Perform detailed literature searches to provide a basis for analytical methods and assumptions.
* Execute static and dynamic nonlinear multibody finite element analyses that include deformable contact, advanced material properties and multi-physics required for realistic simulation of in vivo kinematics and manufacturing process.
* Develop new techniques and implement automation using custom programming when required.
* Evaluate analytical results and recommend design, process, or material changes based on characterization.
* Develop and validate analytical models to gain further insight in research related issues.
* Demonstrate refined technical report writing external publication writing skills. Author reports necessary for 510(k) submission, abstracts to orthopaedic industry related conferences, and articles for peer reviewed journals.
* Contribute on cross-functional teams to develop next generation technologies and devices.
* Become familiar with relevant aspects of competitive technologies to develop innovative solutions to which solve / satisfy customer needs.
* Interface with clinical advisors to gather input for evaluation and development of new technologies.
* Review, select, and coordinate proposals for modeling & simulation-based research at outside universities and laboratories.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Required:
* Bachelor's Degree in a science or engineering discipline.
* 2+ years of experience with modeling & simulation-based research in the medical device industry, or equivalent.
Preferred:
* Master's or PhD degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
* Experience with finite element analysis (e.g. ANSYS, Abaqus, LS-Dyna), CAD (e.g. Pro/Engineer, Solidworks), custom programming (e.g. Fortran subroutine, Matlab, Python), and other analytical based research tools. Experience with musculoskeletal simulation packages (e.g. OpenSim).
* Ability to contribute to complex discovery-based research initiatives from concept through final recommendation.
* Understanding of mechanics, engineering principles, new technology, and product development processes.
* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
* Ability to deliver aspects of innovative analytical, process, or material solutions in the research arena.
