Job Details
Job Title: Data Engineer
Duration: Long Term
Location: Remote
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and reverse-engineer legacy MySQL/MSSQL databases
- Reconstruct data dictionaries and undocumented schemas
- Design and document data mappings to the new RMS
- Develop optimized SQL extraction and transformation scripts
- Perform ETL processes and prepare ingestion-ready datasets
- Support test migrations and final data load
- Identify and mitigate data quality issues
- Collaborate with State IT staff and RMS vendor teams
- Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to State personnel
Required Skills:
- Advanced SQL with emphasis on complex SELECT statements, joins, subqueries, and
- transformation logic.
- MySQL/MSSQL database architecture, and schema discovery.
- Data modeling, normalization concepts, and reverse-engineering undocumented schema.
- ETL methodology and preparing structured data for ingestion into third-party systems.
- Experience with public-safety RMS, case-management, or similarly complex relational
- data structures (preferred).
- Strong analytical and documentation skills with the ability to interpret incomplete or
- ambiguous legacy data.
- Experience with ETL processing binary large objects, PDF, and other unstructured data.
