Job Description Summary
The Turbine Component Analysis Engineer will be part of the Advanced Analysis and Methods team in the Turbine Module and will be responsible for analysis of turbine components including hot gas path, rotor, and casings. Outside of advanced finite element analysis (FEA), general responsibilities of the role include developing tools, methods, and templates for component lifing, blade aeromechanics, maintaining material design curves, and mentoring turbine hardware owners. Areas of expertise include thermal, stress & modal analysis, low & high cycle fatigue, creep, oxidation, fracture mechanics, advanced FEA methods including non-linear contact and plasticity, modal & forced response analysis and design optimization. Additional responsibilities may include engine test coverage and aeromechanics support.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Support hardware owners in analysis and resolution of FEA and lifing issues across the life cycle of turbine components, including conceptual design through validation, manufacturing, and field issues.
  • Support aeromechanics testing and validation of new & existing designs, including strain gage limit calculation, test preparation & coverage, and post-test data analysis.
  • Drive productivity, technical excellence, and process consistency across the Turbine Module by developing analysis methods, macros, tools, and templates. Work with Materials & Process Engineering team to maintain material design curves used for analysis of turbine components. Interface with the Advanced Design Tools team to plan, prioritize and execute tools development to support module needs.
  • Develop/maintain relationships with Controlled Title Holders, analysis experts within the component design teams, across modules, and at global sites to share methods and best practices.
  • Participate in peer reviews, design reviews, mentoring of early-career engineers, and development of solutions to complex analytical problems as they arise. Effectively communicate status and issues to leadership.

Required Qualifications
  • B.S degree in relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Candidates should have 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions, and this posting is only for U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees)). GE will require proof of status prior to employment

Desired Characteristics
  • Edison Engineer; Completion of LPX, Teardown Training; Progress toward completion of Engineering Masters degree and/or ACE Certificate

    Note:
  • This role will accommodate progress toward completion of Engineering Masters degree and/or B-Course project; Limited travel/overtime required; One hour a week per credit hour (maximum 6 hrs per week) can be vouchered.

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, The base pay range for this position is $79,400.00 - 119,000.00 USD per year.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 5% performance bonus.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
