Technical Program Manager

We're seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead a complex, high-visibility infrastructure and reconfiguration initiative within a state-of-the-art, live broadcast environment. The role is rooted in stakeholder coordination, environmental sensitivity, and hands-on leadership rather than pure construction oversight. This is not a ground-up build, but rather a highly nuanced, technically demanding initiative involving reconfiguration of an occupied newsroom and surrounding infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and coordination efforts for technical upgrades, workspace reconfigurations, wiring, network configurations, and potential light construction efforts in a live studio and newsroom setting.


• Serve as the primary liaison between technical teams, contractors, broadcast stakeholders, facilities teams, and executive leadership.


• Navigate complex approval processes for materials, construction activities, and technical configurations in a sensitive, high-availability environment.


• Plan and stage work to minimize operational disruption, adhering to strict policies around dust, noise, and work-hour limitations.


• Partner with construction vendors who may bring their own PMs, ensuring alignment and oversight without duplicating efforts.


• Facilitate early-stage stakeholder meetings onsite to gather input, align on scope, and establish trust.


• Develop and maintain detailed schedules, risk assessments, and communication plans.


• Remain onsite as needed-potentially full-time during key phases of the project-to manage day-to-day coordination and execution.


• Provide the maturity, presence, and political savvy to lead calmly in a high-pressure, production-sensitive environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing infrastructure projects in complex, high-availability environments (e.g., media, financial services, data centers, etc.).


• Strong understanding of technical buildouts (wiring, rack installation, equipment relocation), especially within occupied, operational spaces.


• Familiarity with live production or newsroom environments strongly preferred.


• Ability to work across diverse stakeholder groups, balancing technical requirements with operational needs and executive priorities.


• Skilled at managing ambiguity and shaping order from undefined project scopes.


• Politically astute and able to "read the room," navigating sensitive dynamics with professionalism and discretion.


• Willingness and availability to be onsite in NYC as the project demands-initially for planning, then escalating to full-time presence during critical phases.

Preferred

• Background in managing infrastructure projects in data center or media environments.


• Experience coordinating with architecture and facilities stakeholders.


• Knowledge of physical security, structured cabling, broadcast systems, and IT infrastructure.

Additional Details
The base range for this contract position is $75-85/per hour, depending on experience.

Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
