Role and Responsibilities

The Senior Cybersecurity Consultant is focused on delivering advanced cybersecurity solutions to clients. This position involves a blend of technical expertise, client engagement, supporting the product deliverables, and strategic advisory. Key responsibilities include mentoring and training staff , managing complex client deliverables, and ensuring compliance with evolving industry standards. The role requires strong leadership skills, continuous learning, and cross-department collaboration to align cybersecurity strategies with business objectives. The Senior Consultant plays a crucial role in interdepartmental staff development, building and refining institutional knowledge, shaping our clients' cybersecurity posture, and enhancing client relationships through expert guidance and high-quality service delivery.

Essential Functions
  • Consulting clients' various committees, executives, and leaders to understand their unique cybersecurity risks and needs, refining their risk management programs, and tailoring cybersecurity solutions to their specific context.
  • Conducting thorough evaluations of clients' cybersecurity frameworks and providing recommendations to ensure compliance with legal and industry standards of the public and private sector. This role focuses on successful execution of vCISO and IT Audit products and services.
  • Guiding less experienced staff, fostering their professional development, and enhancing the team's overall skill set-including proposing training solutions and opportunities, mentoring staff in supporting clients, and performing peer reviews.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of cybersecurity processes as assigned, reflecting the latest changes in regulations and best practices.
  • Ensuring cybersecurity templates and products are current with Tyler standards, industry standards and regulatory changes, regularly reviewing and proposing updates when required.
    Staying abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, developments, and evolving technology to integrate within the team's practices while sharing with colleagues and clients.
  • Designing and delivering high-quality, complex projects and presentations, particularly for high-level engagements like board meetings.
  • Working collaboratively with various departments within Tyler Technologies to ensure that cybersecurity strategies and approaches with clients are well-integrated with the overall Tyler mission, vision, and values.
  • Providing strategic cybersecurity advice to clients, enhancing relationships through expertise and tailored solutions, and providing recommendations for changes in cybersecurity services based on their needs.
  • Other duties and projects as determined and assigned by management to support the overall Tyler mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

Candidates must be able to document their experience and achievements in these areas:
  • Demonstrate a progressive career track including experience as a cybersecurity professional working with private or public sector organizations.
  • Possess 5+ years direct consulting experience; 8+ total career experience.
  • Knowledge of primary regulatory drivers, such as: PCI, FISMA, CMMC, GLBA, HIPAA.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards, such as: NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS 20, NIST 800-30, NIST 800-53, and SCADA Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Ability to speak confidently on cybersecurity domains, prepare formal presentations, and lead dialog with executives and Board members as well as technical and operations personnel.
  • Possess excellent research, interviewing and oral/written communication skills, and the ability to relate to persons from varying economic, educational and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to fluently use Microsoft Office products.
  • Be well organized, detail oriented, and able to meet specific deadlines.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with a strong approach to teamwork.
  • Willing to occasionally day-travel to regional clients as well as infrequent overnight travel.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in technology, information systems, or related field preferred.
  • Possess one or more cybersecurity professional certifications such as: CISSP, CRISC, CISM or CISA.
