Description:
Our client, an industry leader in financial technology and services, has an excellent opportunity for a Data Scientist to work on a 12+month contract opportunity. Work will be 100% remote on PST. The Data Scientist will support high-visibility finance transformation initiatives. You will translate ambiguous business goals into actionable analytics, build production-grade solutions, and present insights clearly to Finance leadership. The work is fast-paced, highly cross-functional, and directly tied to business impact.

Due to client requirement, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Rate: $80 - $90 / hr. w2

Responsibilities:
Design analytical frameworks, metrics, and models that drive Finance and operational decisions.

Partner with Finance & Accounting to incorporate domain nuances (accruals, revenue workflows, etc.).

Integrate and validate data across enterprise systems for reliable downstream use.

Deliver measurable impact through insights, scalable pipelines, and production-ready models.

Write concise analytical summaries and decision documents for Finance leadership.

Use AI-assisted tools responsibly while applying human judgment.

Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure adoption of recommendations.

Maintain a customer-first, iterative approach grounded in user needs.

Experience Requirements:
4-7+ years in Data Science, Analytics, or Applied ML.

Experience in Finance/Accounting and familiarity with key processes.

Strong SQL, Python, statistical analysis, metric design, and cohorting skills.

Ability to build production-grade analytics: pipelines, testing, monitoring, documentation.

Clear communication skills for senior leadership narratives.

Experience with AI coding assistants and applying human oversight.

Comfort operating in ambiguity with minimal direction.

Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field

Experience in large-scale tech environments.

Exposure to financial transformation, ERP data, or operational analytics.

Familiarity with dbt, Airflow, Spark, or similar frameworks.

Experience designing analytical experiments and validating models in production.

Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
