Engineering Product Release Lead (Google Cloud Platform)/ Technical Program Manager

Duration: 8 months contract

Job Description:

• We are seeking a senior technical leader to drive enterprise-grade cloud software from concept to production release. This role sits at the intersection of engineering execution, product delivery, and release readiness, ensuring complex distributed systems on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) are delivered reliably, on time, and at scale.
• You will define the program charter, establish the execution and release strategy, and align cross-discipline stakeholders to deliver production-ready software with high quality, reliability, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

Engineering Product Release & Delivery

• Own end-to-end product release execution, from inception and design through production launch and post-release stabilization.
• Define and manage release strategy, milestones, dependencies, risks, and go/no-go criteria.
• Drive release readiness reviews, including testing, security, compliance, reliability, and operational sign-off.
• Ensure smooth transitions from development to operations, including launch planning, rollout strategies, and rollback plans.

Program Charter & Execution Strategy

• Define the program charter, success metrics, scope, and execution model for enterprise software initiatives.
• Translate ambiguous business goals into clear, executable engineering delivery plans.
• Manage complex dependencies across multiple teams, services, and release trains.

Cross-Functional Stakeholder Alignment

• Lead alignment across Engineering, Product Management, SRE, Infrastructure, Security, QA, and Operations.
• Act as the single point of accountability for execution status, trade-offs, and delivery commitments.
• Communicate clearly with senior leadership using data-driven status, risks, and mitigation plans.

Technical Depth & Cloud Systems

• Partner closely with engineers to understand and influence distributed system design and release impact.
• Ensure systems are designed and released with scalability, reliability, observability, and operational excellence in mind.
• Guide best practices for releases on Google Cloud Platform-based platforms, including Kubernetes-based and cloud-native architectures.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

• Identify gaps in release processes, tooling, or workflows and drive continuous improvement.
• Establish repeatable release governance models suitable for large-scale enterprise environments.
• Use post-release reviews and metrics to improve velocity, quality, and predictability.

Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in technical program management, engineering delivery, or senior engineering roles.
• Proven experience driving enterprise software products from inception to production.
• Strong background supporting or delivering distributed cloud systems, preferably on Google Cloud Platform.
• Prior hands-on experience as a software engineer, platform engineer, or SRE.
• Experience leading multi-service or platform-level releases in highly regulated or high-availability environments.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, CI/CD systems, cloud security, and reliability practices.
• Experience working with global, multi-team engineering organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to define program charters and execution strategies in ambiguous environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
