Hiring a Director of Software Development for an insurance industry client

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Ideal candidate would be someone that is in a Manager or Sr Lead role currently and ready to move up to this next level in their career.
  • P&C Insurance or Guidewire experience highly preferred; if no P&C; other types of insurance industry required. 


LOCATION:

  • Onsite 5 days/week in either their Sarasota, Orlando or Miami office 
COMPENSATION:
  • $150,000-165,000 + discretionary bonus
  • $700/mo car allowance
  • Relocation assistance offered 


We are seeking a seasoned Director of Software Development to lead and manage development efforts for a suite insurance-based applications. 

The Director will oversee a team of both internal and external developers, ensuring high-quality delivery and ongoing support. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify priorities and deliver strategic software solutions.

  • Manage and mentor a team of developers involved in the design, development, integration & testing of critical applications.

  • Drive architectural and software strategy aligned with organizational goals.

  • Ensure timely delivery of software releases and production support.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required; Master’s preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in IT/software development with at least 5 years in hands-on programming (Java, .NET, C#, or similar).

  • 10+ years of experience leading people, processes, and technology teams.

  • Strong experience with web technologies: JavaScript, CSS, .NET, SSIS, SSRS, SQL Server.

  • Proficient in MVC, Forms, GitLabs, and CI/CD practices.

  • Extensive experience with RESTful APIs

  • In-depth knowledge of Guidewire InsuranceSuite (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimsCenter) highly preferred

  • Previous experience in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry is highly preferred.
