We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our team and play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the reliability, scalability, and performance of our iLottery production environments. This role bridges the gap between development and operations by applying software engineering principles to infrastructure and operations problems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a passion for automation, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Location: Providence, RI. Must live in commutable distance.

At Brightstar, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation range is $74,961 - $164,800. The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.
Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program. Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles are eligible for discretionary bonuses. In addition, we offer employees a 401(k) Savings Plan with Company contributions, health, dental, and vision insurance, life, accident, and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, wellness programs, and identity theft insurance. Note: programs are subject to eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain the health, availability, and performance of iLottery production environments in collaboration with operations and engineering teams.
- Design and implement scalable, reliable, and efficient systems across multiple platforms.
- Lead efforts to improve the reliability, quality, and time-to-market of software solutions.
- Analyze and optimize system performance, anticipating customer needs and driving innovation.
- Provide operational support and engineering expertise for large, distributed software applications.
- Identify and automate manual processes to improve efficiency and reduce operational load.
- Collect and analyze system metrics to support performance tuning and fault diagnosis.
- Develop sustainable systems and services through automation and continuous improvement.
- Balance development speed and system reliability using well-defined service level objectives (SLOs).
- Conduct post-incident reviews to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
- Guide problem resolution efforts and make informed decisions under pressure.
- Implement and uphold corporate procedures including documentation, communication, quality assurance, and change control.
- Assess and manage risks related to strategic, technical, financial, and operational factors.
- Collaborate across departments, especially with the Service Management team, to ensure alignment and effective execution.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of technical leadership experience in a similar role.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience in system integration, architecture, and test automation.
- Familiarity with cloud-native applications and environments.
- Proven ability to work multi-functionally and collaboratively.
- Strong analytical skills in problem and risk management.
- Demonstrates ownership mentality and proactive approach.
- Effective teammate with a collaborative spirit.
Preferred:
- Solid understanding of operating systems such as Linux and Windows.
- Understanding of database systems and performance tuning.
- Experience with version control tools (e.g., Git).
- Proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages.
