How You'll Make this Internship Opportunity Your Own

Our Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning summer interns will work on a range of projects that ideally align with their interests. Some interns will use statistical techniques to provide insights into internal or external customer data to guide decision-making and enhance user experience. Other interns will build machine learning algorithms or work on artificial intelligence system deployments. The ideal intern will have knowledge of computer languages and their applications to enable a system to perform specific functions.

A Day in the Life
  • Collaborate with other members of the teams supporting GDIT's AI Center of Excellence and LUNA Digital Accelerator.
  • Write and debug code for machine learning models and data preprocessing.
  • Design, test, and refine prompts to optimize performance.
  • Conduct experiments to fine-tune models and validate their performance.
  • Analyze datasets to identify patterns and trends.
  • Maintain documentation of code, experiments, and findings.
  • Prepare reports or presentations on project status and outcomes.
  • Create and modify new and/or existing technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials.
  • Prepare datasets for AI use cases.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, technical exchange sessions, and ideation meetings.

The Must-Haves
  • Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Systems Engineering, or a related STEM field from a United States-based college or university.
  • At the start of this internship, you should have at least one year of school completed.
  • Ability to work in office full-time.

What you Offer as a Stand-Out Candidate
  • Basic knowledge of AI/ML technologies including Computer Vision, Object Character Recognition, Large Language Models, Agentic AI
  • An understanding of data science fundamentals
  • Basic knowledge of decision sciences

GDIT interns are paid and full-time (40 hours/week) for 10 consecutive weeks. Applicants should have a minimum of one semester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes. Take the first step and apply today!

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $18.95 - $25.30. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
