We are seeking to hire a Federal SAP Cost Accounting Standards SME (CO module expertise) to join our team working on a new multi-year award we have within a large Federal Gov t Agency in Washington, DC. This role is 100% remote.
Being a US Cit is REQUIRED for passing the Security Clearance to work on this program (ability to pass Public Trust at minimum).
This position pays a strong salary package with full benefits (including choice of healthcare plans, dental, vision, life insurance, 3 weeks PTO, 11 Paid Federal Holidays, and a matching 401k).
An option for working on an hourly rate is also available for those not needing a full benefits package.
Role Description:
MUST HAVE COST ACCOUNTING PROCESS EXPERIENCE
Responsible for configuring and implementing the Controlling (CO) module within SAP for U.S. government agencies or their contractors. The role ensures that cost accounting practices comply with federal regulations, such as the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
Duties for this specialized role include:
- Federal compliance: Ensuring that all cost accounting practices adhere to FAR, CAS, and other federal guidelines, including the proper segregation of direct, indirect, and overhead costs.
- Cost model development: Supporting cost recovery, managing annual rate establishment, and analyzing profitability across different government contracts.
- SAP configuration: Designing, configuring, and implementing SAP CO modules including Cost Center Accounting, and Product Costing.
- Business requirements analysis: Work with CAS Subject Matter Expert and translate federal government accounting and business requirements into functional SAP S/4HANA designs.
- Integration: Collaborating with other teams to integrate cost data with related SAP modules like SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), Project Systems (PS), Funds Management (FM), and Finance (FI).
- Testing and support: Conducting testing, troubleshooting system issues, and providing ongoing support for cost accounting processes.
- Reporting: Preparing and presenting financial reports for stakeholders.
Key skills and qualifications:
To succeed in this role, a consultant needs a combination of accounting expertise and SAP technical proficiency.
Key requirements include:
- Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Relevant experience with SAP, preferably S/4HANA, in a cost accounting or financial management role. Consulting or direct experience with federal agencies or government contractors is critical.
- Accounting knowledge: Deep understanding of cost accounting principles, as well as federal regulations such as FAR, CAS, and GAAP.
- SAP module expertise: Extensive knowledge of the SAP Controlling (CO) module and its integration with other SAP modules, such as FI, PS, FM and Materials Management (MM).
- Soft skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage stakeholder expectations.
- Certifications: While not mandatory, an SAP certification, such as one for S/4HANA Financial Accounting, can be a plus.
- Candidates must have cost accounting process experience
