Job Description
The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations, and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.
The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) supports the Department by acquiring, distributing, installing and maintaining Local Area Networks, personal computers, mainframe computers, software, and data communications networks. ITSD also plans and coordinates the implementation of advanced technology.
This class of positions encompasses professional and responsible highly technical responsibilities unique to the Cisco Unified Communication Collaboration, monitoring and maintenance of complex Cisco Collaboration Mega Cluster, IT solutions and enterprise infrastructure. Daily Cisco collaboration administration and troubleshooting. Perform these functions with minimal administrative and technical direction, with broad latitude of independent actions or decision, serves in a critical role in aiding with the implementation of VoIP infrastructure monitoring and use of VoIP troubleshooting tools.
ITSD is looking for an IT Automation and Monitoring Engineer who will:
-Analyzes, designs, implements, maintains, and supports unified communication infrastructure consisting of a mega cluster.
-Install, troubleshoot, and resolve any UC voice and AV related issues that may surface.
-Use various networking software tools, to help identify and address issues within the UC network within a speedy manner.
-Configure various collaboration endpoint within the Cisco UC space.
-Setup and deploy cisco sip and third-party sip endpoints.
-Work with Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco UCCX Contact Center.
-Able to perform necessary upgrades within the collaboration space as needed. Able to assist with troubleshooting and resolving or determining the root cause of problems that that surface within the UC infrastructure.
-Recommends hardware, software and server requirements to implement building the monitoring or automation tool's environment.
-Collaborates with relevant partners to fully understand automation and monitoring requirements. Assists in defining and implementing Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
-Collaborates with team leads to produce outage reports and ensure proper automated notifications are distributed when outages occur or when there is a change in the production environment.
-Assists in cost analysis to determine and justify the financial need for collaboration and monitoring enhancements.
-Assists in the development and review of technical specifications for collaboration and monitoring solutions.
-Assists in the procurement of relevant IT systems and services, including the evaluation of vendor submissions solicited via bids, requests for information and proposals.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree in computer science, engineering or a related field from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, management of infrastructure; or
2. Eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, management of infrastructure;
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
