Job Summary and Responsibilities

The System Director, IT Infrastructure Network Connectivity and Data Center provides strategic leadership and oversight for the organization's network connectivity and data center technologies, ensuring a robust and reliable foundation for all IT services. This role is responsible for ensuring the high availability, performance, and security of our network transport and related equipment to meet the demanding standards required to support critical business needs. The Director will collaborate strategically with various departments and stakeholders to plan, design, and deliver innovative WAN, network data center solutions, and champion automation practices that align with business objectives and drive operational excellence.
Reporting to the System VP of Infrastructure Network and Voice, the Director will manage and lead managers, individual contributors and contractors in the design and implementation of technologies focused on connectivity, wireless WAN, router management, network data centers, and advancing automation within the environment.
The role will oversee budgets, provide technical guidance, and drive team performance to optimize the organization's service delivery.
The Director will work with peers and colleagues from all areas of IT and the organization.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide strategic direction and influence to an organization of ~20-30 employees and outsourced partners, managing 5-8 direct reports, while championing a team culture that fosters innovation and high performance to drive results, and upholding CommonSpirit Culture values.
  • Lead the strategic evolution of Network Connectivity and automation practices, defining and executing a comprehensive strategy aligned with business objectives and industry best practices to deliver next-generation capabilities.
  • Proactively manage and monitor transport capacity to generate data-driven insights into network trends, informing strategic capacity planning decisions that ensure optimal network performance and scalability in response to increasing demand and evolving business application requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement in resource management practices, ensuring the environment is properly sized to minimize its environmental footprint and eliminating waste to optimize the utilization of assets and resources, contributing to a more sustainable and cost-effective operation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to implement solutions efficiently and effectively.
  • Effectively allocate resources and prioritize project demand and workload for the team to consistently meet business time lines.
  • Establish and maintain open communication channels with key vendor contacts to ensure timely access to information regarding product updates and industry best practices.
  • Remote eligible.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent job experience accepted
  • 10+ years of demonstrable experience in assessments within a complex healthcare environment.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience in Infrastructure Network or related function.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of development, implementation, and maintenance of Wide Area Networks (WAN) in a large complex environment.
  • Knowledgeable in implementing automation practices for networking, DevOps, Python, Ansible technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the development of long-range assessment plans and strategies.
  • Possess strong communication skills, effectively manages complex environments, and leads with a focus on empowering team members to perform efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and optimize network performance, combined with strong technical skills to effectively troubleshoot and resolve network issues.
