Job Details

As a Software Engineer within Autonomy, you will lead the development of intelligent agents that automate software test case creation & execution for our cutting-edge vehicles and Optimus humanoid. Working alongside world-class engineers, you'll leverage Tesla's massive driving data and state-of-the-art compute infrastructure to build AI agents capable of generating, prioritizing, and refining test scenarios. This role is pivotal for accelerating our release cycles while maintaining rigorous safety & quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Develop AI Agents for Automated Test Generation: Design and implement AI models that can analyze specifications, source code, and historical test data to generate new test cases automatically
  • Integrate with Vehicle Software Pipelines: Work closely with Autopilot/Optimus & firmware teams to ensure automated tests are seamlessly integrated into the CI/CD pipeline. Collaborate on internal frameworks to validate real-time behavior, sensor inputs, and safety-critical functions
  • Optimize Test Selection and Coverage: Research and implement advanced algorithms for test case prioritization, ensuring maximum coverage and defect detection in minimal time. Monitor performance metrics (e.g., code coverage, error detection rate) and continually enhance the AI-driven approach
  • Build Intelligent Feedback Loops: Incorporate feedback from test executions (pass/fail, system logs, edge cases) to retrain or adjust models, improving future test quality. Create adaptive systems that learn from real-world incidents and scenarios to continuously expand test coverage
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with QA, DevOps, and software development groups to roll out new test automation features. Provide documentation and training materials to ensure successful adoption and understanding of AI-generated test assets
  • Maintain High-Performance Infrastructure: Integrate AI training and inference into Tesla's scalable infrastructure, ensuring minimal latency and maximum throughput. Monitor system performance, optimize resource utilization, and troubleshoot bottlenecks in large-scale test workflows
  • Stay Current with AI Advancements: Keep up-to-date with the latest AI research in test automation, applying novel techniques to continuously enhance our solution. Champion innovation and experimentation within the broader Tesla software engineering community

Requirements
  • Proficiency with Python, PyTorch
  • Familiarity with C++
  • Familiarity with Vision-Language Models (VLMs) & Large Language Models (LLMs), transformers, deep learning
  • Experience with training & deploying large-scale neural networks on edge devices
  • Proficiency with data pipelines & large-scale data processing tools
