Job Title: Salesforce Cloud Architect
Client: State of Michigan
Location: Hybrid (Lansing, MI)
Duration: 12+ Months

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Salesforce Cloud Architect & Developer to lead the design, development, and implementation of Salesforce-based solutions for the State of Michigan s MiLEAP department. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for new and existing Salesforce SaaS applications, ensure alignment with business needs, and deliver secure, high-performing, and scalable solutions, especially in the area of public sector licensing and permitting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead solution design sessions and technical architecture planning for Salesforce implementations.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and system configurations.
  • Propose scalable design/architecture options and communicate pros/cons to stakeholders.
  • Guide the customer and end users to define and refine technical requirements.
  • Conduct technical workshops and lead design sessions with customers and teams.
  • Oversee and ensure alignment of the technical architecture with SOM s long-term strategy.
  • Develop internal development guidelines and ensure adherence across the development team.
  • Ensure Salesforce solutions comply with SOM s security guidelines and standards.
  • Provide oversight on code quality, unit/system testing, and QA processes.
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of Salesforce solutions, including integration with external systems.
  • Ensure high availability, backup/recovery planning, and data seeding using tools like OwnBackup.
  • Provide mentorship and best practices guidance to junior developers and technical teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Salesforce Sales Cloud and Service Cloud.
  • 2+ years of experience working with Public Sector Foundation (PSF) for licensing/permitting.
  • Completed at least two full lifecycle Salesforce implementations.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce platform capabilities and constraints.
  • Proficiency in Apex, Force.com, Java, Lightning Web Components (LWC), SOQL, Omniscripts, and Flow Builder.
  • Experience migrating from Workflow Rules and Process Builder to Flow Builder.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Apex triggers, Batch Apex, and custom classes.
  • Experience with web services (REST, SOAP) for integrating Salesforce with external systems.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Conga Composer for document generation.
  • Experience with CI/CD processes and Release Management for Salesforce environments.
  • Familiarity with 3rd party Salesforce AppExchange products like Clariti Basic Gov, OwnBackup, and Conga.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate technical risks and issues proactively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience engaging with executive-level stakeholders.

  • Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA)
  • Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I & II
  • Salesforce Certified Application Architect or System Architect
  • Salesforce Public Sector Solutions Certification (if available)
