About the Role
TEKsystems is partnering with a leading telecommunications client to build a strategic team focused on broadband market expansion. As a Telecom GIS & Data Analyst, you'll play a pivotal role in identifying high-opportunity areas for infrastructure growth using geospatial data and large-scale consumer datasets. This is a high-impact position within the engineering organization, offering the chance to directly influence network planning and investment decisions.
This role is 100% remote, allowing you to collaborate with teams across the country while contributing to a national broadband strategy.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze geospatial and consumer datasets to identify underserved markets and broadband expansion opportunities
  • Develop and maintain spatial models to support strategic planning and overbuild analysis
  • Use GIS tools (QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo, and proprietary platforms) to visualize geographic trends
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate large datasets from internal and cloud-based sources (Google Cloud Platform)
  • Build automated Python scripts and workflows for data cleaning, transformation, and analysis
  • Perform deep data analysis to uncover patterns, validate assumptions, and support business decisions
  • Validate and cross-reference internal datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Collaborate with engineering, planning, and strategy teams to align insights with business goals
  • Create dashboards, maps, and reports for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Investigate and resolve data gaps by engaging with internal teams and systems

Required Skills
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and analysis
  • Advanced SQL skills for querying and managing large relational datasets
  • Hands-on experience with GIS platforms (QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo)
  • Experience working with large-scale geospatial and consumer datasets
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) tools and environments
  • Strong initiative and analytical mindset; able to chase down data silos and validate information
  • Telecom industry experience is mandatory, specifically in GIS and data analytics roles supporting broadband or network expansion
  • Ability to write code in Python and SQL is required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting broadband expansion for ISPs or telecom providers
  • Background in network planning, engineering, or strategic modeling
  • Familiarity with consumer segmentation, demographic overlays, and competitive analysis
  • Experience building visualizations and dashboards (Tableau, Power BI, or GIS-integrated platforms)

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00/hr.
