Position: Data Architect
Location: Hybrid/Springfield, IL
Duration: Full-time/Long Term Contract With potential extension.
Job Summary:
Zion is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Data Architect to design and optimize our enterprise data architecture. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data modeling, integration, governance, and cloud platforms. This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence in Springfield two days a week and remote work for the remaining days.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure data architecture solutions.
- Lead data modeling efforts (conceptual, logical, and physical).
- Define data governance and data quality standards.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Ensure efficient data integration from various sources (on-prem, cloud, third-party).
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools for data architecture.
- Maintain documentation for data architecture, workflows, and governance.
- Support analytics, BI, and reporting needs across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, etc., if applicable).
- Implement and manage data warehouse or data lake solutions on cloud platforms such as Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or AWS.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or similar roles.
- Expertise in data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, Lucidchart, etc.).
- Strong experience with relational (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
- Proven experience implementing data warehouse or data lake solutions in Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or AWS environments.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines and tools (Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory, etc.).
- Experience with data warehousing and data lakes.
- Strong understanding of data governance, lineage, and cataloging tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation).
