Job Title: Sr Oracle OCI Services and Solutions Architect
Location: Richmond, VA (Onsite: 4 days/week required)

About the Role

As a Sr. Oracle OCI Services and Solutions Architect with VITA, you will assist with the design, review, and implementation of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) service and solution offerings. You will collaborate with customer agencies, managed cloud suppliers, and internal agency teams to ensure all architectures deliver efficient, effective, secure, and compliant solutions that follow industry best practices and well-architected frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the design and implementation of Oracle OCI cloud architectures and solutions

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into robust, cloud-native solutions

  • Evaluate, review, and recommend changes to systems and projects, focusing on security and compliance

  • Produce architectural diagrams, documentation, and design artifacts for cloud environments

  • Advise agencies and partners on OCI best practices and cloud reference models

  • Support cloud solution migrations, implementation, and ongoing operations in the enterprise environment

  • Review solutions for both technical and fiscal accuracy

  • Provide technical leadership to ensure deliverables meet customer business priorities and regulatory standards

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum eight (8) years of forward-thinking IT experience

  • At least three (3) years of hands-on cloud architecture experience with public clouds (preferably Oracle OCI)

  • Four (4) years designing solutions within Oracle OCI, with OCI-specific certifications in Cloud Ops, Architecture, Security, etc.

  • Documented experience in cloud architecture operations and management, including OCI, containers, serverless, and database services

  • In-depth knowledge of cloud networking architecture (virtual networks, VPNs, subnets, network security groups, load balancers)

  • Strong history of cloud solution reviews, with a focus on security, controls, and compliance (familiar with frameworks like NIST, PCI, CJIS, FedRAMP)

  • Skilled in designing with cloud reference models and producing technical documentation

  • Proficiency with scripting/build tools (Jenkins, GitHub, Terraform)

  • Hands-on with configuration and monitoring tools (Fleet Application Management, Puppet, OCI Monitoring, Splunk)

  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for business/technical audiences

Preferred

  • Oracle OCI Cloud Certification(s) (Cloud Ops, Architecture, Security, etc.)

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Strong leadership and initiative, can work with minimal supervision and meet strict deadlines

  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise-class operating systems/applications in cloud environments

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) architecture, migration, operations, and security

  • Well-versed in enterprise compliance and regulatory standards within public cloud ecosystems

  • Able to produce high-quality architectural documentation and presentations for diverse stakeholders

  • Demonstrates critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective technical communication skills
