Observability Engineer, Lead
The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Lead Observability Engineer to help advance and integrate observability capabilities across our enterprise platforms. This role is both strategic and hands-on -ideal for someone passionate about improving visibility, automating response, and driving service reliability through data.
You'll work across tools such as Dynat race , Splunk, ServiceNow Event Management, and log pipeline technologies to help unify monitoring workflows and enhance operational maturity. As a lead member of the team, you'll provide technical guidance, coordinate team efforts, and support the delivery of observability capabilities as a service to the enterprise organization.
This is also a growth opportunity-with the potential to take on broader leadership responsibilities as our observability practice continues to scale. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizen ship is required .

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. How You'll Contribute
- Act as a technical lead across observability platforms, helping ensure alignment, consistency, and operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with platform SMEs to design, implement, and optimize observability solutions across applications, infrastructure, and services.
- Support monitoring strategies using Dynat race , Splunk, and log data routing tools.
- Partner with ServiceNow Event Management stakeholders to support automated alert ingestion, CI mapping, and incident correlation workflows.
- Drive troubleshooting and root cause analysis using telemetry, logs, and service mapping tools.
- Coordinate priorities and help manage the observability engineering backlog to ensure timely delivery of key initiatives.
- Guide onboarding of services, validate requirements, and improve monitoring coverage and alert quality.
- Mentor engineers and help define standards, runbooks, and continuous improvement processes across observability domains.
- Support platform maturity, cost optimization, and automation goals aligned to enterprise priorities.
- Contribute to the evolution of Observability-as-a-Service models including intake, onboarding, documentation, and support.

You Have:
- 5+ years of experience in observability, monitoring, SRE, or infrastructure engineering roles
- Experience with Dynat race and Splunk Cloud and Enterprise Security, including dashboarding, alerting, advanced troubleshooting and best practices
- Experience with log data routing and transformation pipelines such as Cribl
- Experience with ServiceNow ITOM, espe cia lly Event Management, CMDB, and Discovery integrations
- Experience with troubleshooting across complex, distributed systems
- Experience leading incident reviews, root cause analysis, and platform improvements
- Ability to coordinate workstreams, align priorities, and foster collaboration across engineering, operations, and service owner teams
- Ability to leverage a people-first approach to leadership and mentoring
- Bachelor's degree
Nice If You Have:
- Experience supporting platform migrations or tool rationalization efforts
- Experience with ITIL-based event and incident workflows
- Experience with automation or scripting and integrating with APIs, such as Python, JavaScript, Regex, or JSON / YAML
- Experience in developing and working in the cloud and with serverless and containerized technologies, including AWS, Azure, S3, Lambda, Docker, or Kubernetes
- Experience contributing to operational readiness, maturity frameworks, or observability center s of excellence
- Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
- ITIL, Dynat race , Splunk, ServiceNow, or other observability platforms certifications
