Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a Digital Solution Architect II with our large power and utilities client in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12-month contract with a potential for extension.

Pay: $70.00 - $73.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.

Description:
As a Digital Solutions Architect within the IT organization, you will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of digital application development and cloud delivery. You'll collaborate with a small team of Solution Architects to modernize our application stack and empower Agile teams to deliver high-quality solutions at speed.

You'll bring deep technical expertise to cloud migration efforts, helping transition legacy on-premise systems to scalable, secure, and flexible cloud-native architectures. This role requires close partnership with Cybersecurity, Enterprise & Solution Modern Architecture, Infrastructure, Product teams, and Business stakeholders to ensure technology solutions align with business goals and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accelerate company's ability to build and migrate applications and workloads to the Cloud.
  • Architect and design C4 artifacts across the digital landscape, including Cloud, Web, Mobile, AI, API, SaaS, COTS, and Legacy on-premise systems.
  • Create technical designs (e.g., Activity Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, API specifications, message models) in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, Product, and Infrastructure teams.
  • Present and defend architectural designs in Cybersecurity and Architecture reviews, and share knowledge with SMEs, developers, and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout the development lifecycle from design through testing, delivery, and support.
  • Guide and mentor Solution Architects and Lead Engineers, fostering high-performing, cross-functional teams.
  • Analyze business and non-functional requirements to define technical solutions.
  • Challenge legacy thinking and drive innovation aligned with modern cloud technologies.
  • Support various aspects of the Digital organization, including product, design, development, and delivery.
  • Stay current with industry trends and help teams adopt modern application strategies.
  • Contribute to the Agile Operating Model to ensure it supports company's technology strategy.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience designing and developing enterprise solutions.
  • Proven experience leading product teams in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, Google Cloud, SaaS).
  • Hands-on expertise with AWS services (e.g., Terraform, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, Athena, EC2, EKS, EMR).
  • Experience architecting Big Data/AI/ML analytics solutions and real-time streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka).
  • Network & Cloud Security with Deep knowledge of network security principles (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, OCI) is critical for securing modern infrastructures.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD practices and infrastructure as code using Terraform.
  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Experience mentoring architects and software engineers, and working across multiple SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall).
  • Familiarity with externalizing APIs for third-party consumption.

Education:

  • BS in Computer Science, Math, or related engineering fields with 7+ years of relevant experience in technology architecture/leadership.
