Maintainability engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.

Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and direction to the hardware owners on how to reduce down-time and cost with maintenance friendly designs while using standard tools and methods.
  • Complete maintainability analysis including tool access and hardware removal path models, maintenance task analysis, maintainability demonstrations, and keep out zones.
  • Collaborate with direct customer, program leadership, and design engineers to ensure program maintainability requirements are accomplished.
  • Contribute towards strategy and policy development for Maintainability at GE Aviation.
  • Create comprehensive program plans to execute the maintainability objectives of the assigned program
  • Perform periodic design reviews (CDR, PDR, DDR) of the product
  • Support the identification and development of support equipment
  • Develop and deliver customer contractual deliverables

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Maintainability Engineering
  • A&P License Preferred or Military Aircraft Engine Maintenance experience
