Job Title: Cybersecurity Systems Penetration Testing Consultant
Place of Performance: On-Site - Montpelier, VT
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (Required).
- Certifications such as OSCP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ are highly valued.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with client stakeholders throughout the engagement.
- Conduct endpoint penetration testing on a REST endpoint (details provided at project launch).
- Perform penetration tests, including black box testing on the defined database, to assess potential compromise.
- Conduct authenticated testing for three (3) defined user roles.
- Deliver comprehensive, risk-ranked reports with vulnerabilities, associated exploits, steps to reproduce, and corrective recommendations.
- Perform retesting after remediation to confirm closure of identified vulnerabilities.
- Log and trace all packets sent to the database during testing, providing log files as deliverables.
- Provide initial findings report within 5 business days of test completion.
- Ensure all reports are clear, detailed, and actionable for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- 3 5 years of hands-on experience in penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and cybersecurity roles.
- Proficiency with penetration testing tools: Metasploit, Burp Suite, and knowledge of OWASP, NIST frameworks.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, information security policies, and industry standards.
- Proven experience with:
- Black box and authenticated penetration testing
- Endpoint penetration testing (REST endpoints, databases)
- Packet tracing, logging, and providing log files
- Knowledge of secure data destruction protocols and secure coding practices.
- Expertise in database security vulnerabilities: SQL injection, privilege escalation, authentication bypass.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of networking, operating systems (Linux, Windows), programming, and security tools.
- Proficiency in Python and scripting languages for automation and analysis.
- Experience with logging and monitoring tools to analyze network packets.
- Ability to test and validate role-based access controls across multiple user roles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying vulnerabilities and recommending mitigation.
- Exceptional report writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to implement security solutions effectively.
- Proven track record of delivering detailed reports within strict deadlines.
