Job Description: Wireless Network Engineer

Company Overview

At Trilogy NextGen, we are at the forefront of building next-generation connectivity solutions. We empower our clients with robust, seamless, and secure wireless networks that drive their business forward. Our operations team is composed of innovative problem-solvers dedicated to technical excellence and customer success.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Wireless Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the design, deployment, and optimization of both enterprise Wi-Fi and private LTE networks. This role is critical to delivering cutting-edge wireless solutions for our clients and involves a combination of remote design and hands-on, on-site implementation. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of a wireless network deployment, from initial surveys and design to final optimization and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Design & Planning: Design and architect end-to-end wireless solutions encompassing Wi-Fi (802.11ax/ac) and private LTE/5G networks based on customer requirements.
  • Site Surveys & RF Analysis: Conduct active and passive site surveys, RF spectrum analysis, and predictive modeling to ensure optimal network performance and coverage.
  • Deployment & Integration: Lead the on-site deployment, installation, and configuration of wireless network hardware, including Wi-Fi access points, LTE radios (eNodeB), and associated controllers.
  • Core Network Collaboration: Work closely with core network engineers to ensure seamless integration of the Radio Access Network (RAN) with the Evolved Packet Core (EPC).
  • Optimization & Troubleshooting: Perform post-deployment network analysis, performance tuning, and advanced troubleshooting to resolve connectivity, interference, and capacity issues.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including high-level designs (HLD), low-level designs (LLD), network diagrams, and operational guides.
  • Travel: Travel to customer sites (up to 50%) to lead deployment projects, conduct site assessments, and provide expert-level support.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
  • 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in designing and deploying complex wireless networks.
  • Strong expertise in enterprise Wi-Fi, including a deep understanding of 802.11 standards (Wi-Fi 6/6E is a plus), controllers, and authentication protocols (802.1x).
  • Proven experience with LTE networks, including knowledge of RAN components, LTE architecture, and RF principles.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design and analysis tools (e.g., Ekahau, iBwave, Wireshark, spectrum analyzers).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%, both domestically and potentially internationally.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Private Cellular Networks (CBRS, 5G NR).
  • Familiarity with Evolved Packet Core (EPC) components such as MME, SGW, and PGW.
  • Industry certifications such as CWNA, CWDP, CWAP, CCNA/CCNP Wireless, or similar.
  • Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Python, Ansible) is a plus.
