Senior Systems Engineer

Overview:

The Senior Systems Engineer serves as a subject matter expert for key enterprise technologies and infrastructure services used by the client. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting scalable technology solutions across server, storage, and network environments.

The engineer will play a pivotal role in architecture planning, modernization initiatives, and operational excellence, collaborating across teams to ensure solutions meet performance, availability, and security standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex infrastructure solutions supporting enterprise systems.
• Partner closely with Technology leadership, business partners, and support teams to define and deliver solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
• Drive infrastructure architecture and lifecycle planning, including research, design, integration, and testing of new technologies.
• Establish and maintain technology standards, documentation, and best practices across infrastructure disciplines.
• Provide technical oversight for implementations, migrations, and system upgrades.
• Mentor and coach less-experienced engineers, reviewing designs, proposals, and change requests.
• Manage vendor relationships and coordinate external technical resources as needed.
• Participate in budget and capacity planning, ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Analyze complex issues and deliver sustainable, scalable technical solutions.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and trends relevant to enterprise infrastructure.
• Ensure all work adheres to corporate risk, compliance, and audit standards.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of combined higher education and/or hands-on experience in systems design, engineering, management, or architecture.
• Deep understanding of infrastructure lifecycle management, systems design, and IT service management (ITSM) frameworks.
• Proven experience leading technical design efforts for enterprise-scale solutions.
• Expertise in Microsoft Server administration and enterprise platform management.
• Working knowledge of SQL Server administration and query fundamentals.
• Strong understanding of networking and storage concepts in enterprise environments.
• Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills with ability to influence and collaborate across multiple teams.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while delivering high-impact results.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of professional experience in infrastructure design and systems engineering.
• Experience translating complex business and functional requirements into technical designs.
• Advanced knowledge of virtualization, server/client technologies, and enterprise integrations.
• Experience developing project estimates and managing technology budgets.
• Strong understanding of how people, processes, and technologies interconnect within large enterprises.
• Prior experience mentoring technical staff and leading cross-functional delivery efforts.
