Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Engineer with strong expertise in ETL development and data pipeline orchestration. This role will focus on processing large volumes of data from diverse file-based sources, transforming them efficiently, and managing secure storage across cloud and traditional databases. The ideal candidate should bring a solid background in ETL tools, cloud services, and relational databases, along with a passion for delivering reliable, production-ready data systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ingest, parse, and transform large-scale structured and semi-structured data from file-based sources
  • Build and maintain robust ETL pipelines, ensuring accurate and efficient data delivery to downstream systems
  • Design and implement data transformations using tools like Ab Initio (or similar) and SQL.
  • Work with cloud-based platforms and services including S3, Lambda, EMR, and Redshift.
  • Support data storage solutions using both cloud (Redshift) and traditional (Oracle) databases
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production data issues, including participation in on-call rotations when necessary
  • Collaborate with team leads and developers to align data flow processes with evolving business needs
  • Participate in solution design and whiteboarding sessions to address complex data engineering challenges

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 6 years of solid experience as a Data Engineer, with a strong focus on ETL development
  • Proven hands-on experience with ETL tools, preferably Ab Initio
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and data transformation techniques
  • Practical understanding of AWS services such as S3, Lambda, EMR, and Redshift
  • Experience with Oracle databases and handling large-scale datasets
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of data pipeline design and maintenance
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and design articulation during technical discussions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or familiarity with scripting in Python or Java to support cloud integrations
  • Domain knowledge in financial services, especially in secondary mortgage markets
  • AWS Certifications or equivalent cloud/data engineering credentials are a strong plus
  • Ability to understand business domain logic and translate it into technical implementation.
