About the team and the role:
eBay, Inc. seeks MTS 1, Software Engineer in Austin, TX
What you will accomplish:
Job Duties: Build eBay platforms and systems infrastructure using strong background in distributed systems, network system design, and large-scale database systems. Write code for mobile and web-based applications, create robust high-volume production applications, and develop prototypes. Research, analyze, design, develop, and test application solutions that are appropriate for eBay's business and technology strategies. Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and project related team meetings. Work with other engineers, Architecture, Product Management, and Operations teams to develop innovative application solutions that meet business needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules and adherence to development principles and quality goals. Own major projects and features from the design phase to coding, testing, deployment, and support. Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-geography teams to deliver results. Partial telecommuting permitted from a commutable distance.
What you will bring:
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered, as a software engineer, or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Java/J2EE, SOAP, SOA Services, Design Patterns, Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA/D), Data Structures, XML, REST, JSON, and Internet Protocols.
2. Java, data structures, algorithms, and understanding of multithreading, synchronization, and concurrent programming.
3. Relational databases (Oracle) and/or NoSQL data technologies (Mongo, Cassandra, Couchbase), and related toolsets.
4. Lua scripting, Freemarker language and experience with front-end technologies such as ReactJS and Angular.
5. Tableau for data visualization and reporting.
6. Jenkins for continuous integration and deployment.
7. Scripting languages such as Shell script, Python, and Ruby for automating tasks and enhancing application functionality.
8. Containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or similar platforms for deploying and managing applications in a containerized environment.
9. Integrating vendor applications, like Address Doctor, into existing systems. Address Doctor for address normalization and validation, and the ability to work with its APIs for seamless integration
10. collaboration skills and the ability to influence a cross-functional team to deliver results.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
