Senior Information Security Engineer

Our client is seeking a Senior Information Security Engineer to join their cybersecurity organization and play a critical role in strengthening their enterprise security posture. This is an exciting opportunity to lead detection engineering initiatives, drive proactive threat-hunting efforts, and enhance visibility across cloud and hybrid environments. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to implement modern security controls, respond to emerging threats, and improve the organization s overall defense strategy.

Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $150,000-170,000 base salary depending on experience

What You ll Do:

Key responsibilities


  • Develop advanced detection rules, custom alerts, and attack-surface reduction strategies across Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Conduct proactive threat-hunting activities using log analytics, behavioral analysis, and threat intelligence to identify malicious activity.
  • Operate and optimize enterprise security tools including endpoint protection, SIEM, intrusion prevention, and vulnerability management platforms.
  • Automate detection, response, and remediation workflows using scripting and orchestration to improve operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a technical lead during major security incidents, providing investigation oversight, root-cause analysis, and executive-level reporting.


What Gets You the Job:

Qualifications


  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in security engineering with strong expertise in Microsoft Defender, vulnerability management, and SIEM platforms (Microsoft Sentinel preferred).
  • 3+ years of threat-hunting experience including detection creation, log analysis, and behavioral analytics using tools such as Sentinel or Splunk.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, authentication protocols, secure coding principles, and cloud/hybrid infrastructure security.
  • Experience building automated security workflows or detections using PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior staff and present technical insights to executives.
