Location: Chicago, IL, hybrid in office

Salary: $175,000-$225,000 base salary plus annual discretionary bonus

An elite trading firm in Chicago is seeking a High Performance Computing Engineer to join their Chicago team. You'll be directly responsible for enhancing their research infrastructure and accelerating all teams within the firm.

What you'll do:
- Support and scale the firms high-performance computing and storage systems both on premise (Linux) and in the cloud (AWS. Google Cloud Platform or Azure)

- Manage the day to day HPC environment including troubleshooting issues related to OS, storage, network, and other infrastructure components
- Drive research innovation that enables quant and options research
- Manage compute capabilities in CPU, GPU, and other processes
- Work cross functionally with members of the development, trading, network, and other infrastructure teams to ensure system performance is optimized and utilised to its highest potential
- Serve as a senior member of the team and subject matter expert, mentoring junior engineers and taking ownership of projects

What you'll need:
- 4+ years of experience in research infrastructure, systems engineer, or similar role.
- Advanced degree preferred
- Strong expertise in high performance computing systems optmization and management
- Experience in working with Hyperscalers
- Expertise in Linux environments, ideally with a strong background in high performance computing
- Proficiency in cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform)
- Expertise in Python, Bash, or other scripting language

This role must sit out of the firms Chicago office working in a hybrid model of 3 days in person per week.
