We are seeking a highly experienced Journeyman Network and Computer Systems Administrator to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the Operations and Maintenance of US Customs and Immigration Service Network System. The successful candidate will provide intermediate-level network and systems administration to ensure high availability, performance, and security of USCIS enterprise systems and services.
This role involves hands-on management of USCIS network hardware and software, including troubleshooting, updates, configuration, and monitoring, while adhering to federal standards and USCIS-specific policies and procedures.
Position is contingent upon contract award.

This role involves hands-on management of USCIS network hardware and software, including troubleshooting, updates, configuration, and monitoring, while adhering to federal standards and USCIS-specific policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
- Support daily operations of the USCIS network and system infrastructure across multiple sites.
- Install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux-based servers and networking equipment (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).
- Maintain Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, and other core IT services.
- Monitor network and system performance, using tools like SolarWinds, Splunk, or similar.
- Apply security patches and system updates in compliance with DHS/USCIS cybersecurity requirements (e.g., STIGs, IAVAs, RMF).
- Implement and manage virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Assist with incident response, change management, and system recovery efforts.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to enforce security policies and perform vulnerability remediation.
- Provide Tier II/III support and mentoring to junior team members.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation as required.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required (per federal contract requirements).
- Active Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3-5 years of experience in network and systems administration.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing/switching, VPNs, and firewall configurations.
- Experience managing Microsoft Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
- Familiarity with Linux administration (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Knowledge of NIST, FISMA, and DHS cybersecurity compliance standards.
- Experience with system imaging, backups, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working on federal contracts, preferably with DHS/USCIS.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, CCNA, Microsoft Certified:
- Azure Administrator Associate, or VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
- Experience supporting cloud migrations or hybrid environments.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira, or other ITSM tools.
