RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Software Developer/System Specialist in Houston, TX. This is a temporary contract position with the potential to convert to permanent employment.

Summary:
We are seeking a Software Developer/System Specialist for a consulting role focused on the development of frameworks for various liquid transportation business lines (e.g., nominations, scheduling, measurement, distribution, accounting, material balance reconciliation). Responsibilities include the development of new features, resolution of bugs, and enhancement of existing functionality.

The role involves collaboration within a technical team to deliver new solutions, enhancements, and support. The developer will also contribute to technical documentation, testing, and implementation while supporting business and end-user needs.

Responsibilities:
* Deliver technical designs and development time estimates
* Develop high-quality functionality with proper unit and integration testing
* Collaborate with QA on testing plans and execution
* Present status updates and provide expected timelines for deliverables
* Translate business requirements into functional technical solutions
* Perform systems analysis for complex projects to resolve technical or business challenges
* Troubleshoot and resolve application issues through defined change control processes
* Maintain an understanding of both system and business functions to support users and technical teams
* Contribute to the long-term improvement of applications and systems

REQUIREMENTS:
* Possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalent
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, CIS, MIS, or 5+ years of equivalent industry experience
* Minimum 5 years of experience in application development and support
* Minimum 5 years of experience with SQL-based applications
* Strong experience with SQL Server, including database design, stored procedures, and performance tuning
* Hands-on experience with Angular, Elasticsearch, and SSRS
* Experience developing RESTful APIs and using server-side frameworks
* Familiarity with Agile development practices (Scrum/Kanban)
* Knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
* Proficiency with .NET, JavaScript, Git, RabbitMQ
* Ability to analyze and translate business requirements into technical solutions
* Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
* Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Nice to Have:
* Experience with Redis for caching and data storage
* Hands-on experience with Kafka-based messaging systems
* Background in commercial energy transportation systems (contracts, tariffs, scheduling, balancing, invoicing, etc.)
* Familiarity with public API development and adoption
* Understanding of zero-trust security environments and layered security configurations

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
