Oversees the manufacturing of these devices, systems, and equipment. Designs new ways to use electrical power to develop or improve products. Performs detailed calculations to develop manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications. Directs manufacturing, installing, and testing of electrical equipment to ensure that products meet specifications and codes. Investigates complaints from customers or the public, evaluate problems, and recommend solutions. Works with project managers on production efforts to ensure that projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget. Designs electronic components, software, products, or systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, or scientific applications. Analyzes customer needs and determine electrical system requirements, capacity, and cost to develop a system plan. Develops maintenance and testing procedures for electronic components and equipment. Evaluates systems and recommend design modifications or equipment repair. Inspects electronic equipment, instruments, and systems to make sure they meet safety standards and applicable regulations. Plans and develops applications and modifications for electronic properties used in parts and systems to improve technical performance.

Background/Need: The Group is focused on the synthesis of dynamic and complex control and autonomous systems, from concept to realization, for a wide variety of prototypes. Prototype applications span various mission areas, such as space control; air, missile, and maritime defense; communication and tactical systems; homeland protection; and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems. The group has expertise in dynamic stabilization and platform control; advanced autonomy; pointing, acquisition, and tracking; guidance; navigation and estimation; robotics; mapping; intra- and inter-system planning (e.g., swarming);demanding real-time embedded software and firmware control; image processing; machine learning; human-machine interaction; space-qualified electronics; and analog and power electronics. Applied research and development projects includes pace optical payloads, small satellites, airborne laser radars and imaging systems, and autonomous air, ground, and maritime systems.
Requirements:

Hands-on real-world experience with the following is required:
Architecting, implementation, documentation, and testing experience for digital & analog electronics design, firmware programing using VHDL or Verilog, mixed signal, and micro-controller/ FPGA programming.
Specifying circuit & system-level grounding and shielding.
Electronic design for digital, analog, mixed signal, and power conditioning
Familiarity with various types of laboratory instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, waveform function generators, logic analyzers, frequency counters, and meters.
Hands-on experience and a strong desire to work on all aspects of electronic system prototype development including architecting, design, analysis, implementation, integration, and test in a laboratory setting of all of the above.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to working a team-oriented environment with minimal supervision.

Strong preference for experience with electronics design for space flight systems.
Embedded real-time software development including C/C++, Python, or ROS.
MATLAB, Simulink, PSpice, EMI/EMC, discrete power electronics
Specifying electronic cables with signal integrity considerations
Motor drivers, power conversion, high current amplifiers, trans-impedance amplifiers, diode current drivers and regulators, battery conditioning and charging, and various other electromagnetic loads.
NOTE: The focus of this requirement is electronic circuit design (digital and mixed signal analog) through hands-on testing. A candidate with ONLY FPGA experience will NOT meet our needs. Significant experience in RF or networking/telecom is specifically NOT what this requisition is for. Please do NOT send resumes with only these skill sets or with these as the primary skill set for this request.
This position requires an active SECRET clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET clearance. While an active TOP SECRET clearance is preferred, it is not required currently.
