Job Title: Datacenter BreakFix Technician

Location: Newton County, Georgia

Duration / Term: Long-Term Contract

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on and driven Datacenter BreakFix Technician to support infrastructure operations in a high-performance data center environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in fiber optics, Linux systems, network protocols, and hardware troubleshooting, along with a proactive attitude and the ability to mentor junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform physical hardware swaps including optical transceivers, line cards, and TOR switches
  • Diagnose and resolve circuit and remote link issues
  • Coordinate RMA processes with vendors
  • Maintain accurate asset tracking and documentation
  • Use text-based CLI tools for system checks and troubleshooting
  • Review hardware logs to identify and isolate root causes
  • Manage ticketing systems and escalate issues as needed
  • Mentor and guide L1 technicians
  • Ensure compliance with ESD, network procedures, and safety protocols
  • Build strong relationships with internal partner teams
  • Lift and handle equipment up to 50 lbs as required

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of data center experience and 4+ years in IT infrastructure roles
  • Familiarity with Linux systems, scripting (Bash, Python, Perl), and automation
  • Solid understanding of IP networking, OSI model, and protocols like BGP, VRRP, LACP, and Spanning Tree
  • Comfortable working with fiber optic connections, contamination control, and cleaning procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Knowledge of A+ / Network+ level concepts
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
  • Team-oriented, coachable, and proactive mindset
