ECS is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor to work in our Fairfax, VA office.
Program Description
ECS is seeking talented professionals to join our successful and growing team in building the next-generation Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Cyber data solution. The CDM Program is the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's (CISA) dynamic approach to strengthening the cybersecurity of Federal networks and systems through better awareness and visibility into their security posture and cyber threats. ECS is responsible for designing, building, deploying, operating, and maintaining a complete 'Data Services' solution which includes the collection, normalization, visualization, and sharing of cyber data from more than 100 Federal agencies. The CDM Data Services product is an integrated suite of multiple Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products, software configuration packages, and custom code which work together to operate as an integrated solution tailored to meet Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requirements.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:
- Perform s duties of writing and editing of BETSIE P rogram documentation , including but not limited to cyber security documentation such as System Security Plans (SSPs) , Authorization To Operate ( ATO ) artifacts , System Design Document (SDD) , A rchitectural D ocumentation, C oncept of Operations ( CONOP S ) s , Standard Operating Procedures ( SOPs ) , infrastructure documentation, and\or any other customer deliverables and documents .
- Perform s additional duties as assigned .
- Coordinate s the display of graphics and the production documents .
- Ensure s content is of high quality and conforms with standards .
- Interview s ubject m atter e xperts (SMEs) to extract pertinent information for document creation
- Collaborate on the implementation of standardized processes and deliverables .
- Lead documentation planning and scheduling for multiple concurrent projects, ensuring alignment and program m ilestones and deadlines
- Partner with engineering, cybersecurity, and program management teams to identify documentation needs and proactively recommend improvement
Required Skills

- 10 + years of experience as a document author and technical writer / editor, working with minimal supervision to coordinate across functional and technical teams to produce high- quality deliverables
- Extensive knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- 7 + years of experience coordinating the completion of technical documentation across diverse teams of engineering and management stakeholders
- Must c onsistent ly focus on improving quality and efficiency .
- Must have the ability to remain flexible and thrive in an evolving environment .
- Basic knowledge of Agile processes, release cycles , and Agile methodologies
- Experience handling multiple tasks, managing changing priorities, and executing timely action s
- Experience creating and implementing quality control processes within a team environment
- Experience using content management systems or document repositories
- Ability to e nforce documentation standards, templates, and style guides across projects
- Experience collaborating with cybersecurity, engineering, or IT professionals to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation
- Demonst r ated a bility to lead documentation initiatives, mentor junior writers, and manage stakeholder expectations
Desired Skills
- Bachelor's d egree
- Active Department of Homeland Security ( DHS ) clearance is a plus
- Experience supportin g large F ederal programs ($ 5 00M +)
- Experience and proficiency working within the Software Development Life Cycle (SD LC)
- W orking knowledge of various methodologies and / frameworks , such as the Scaled Agile Framework ( SAFe ) Agile
- Familiarity with accessibility and Section 50 8 compliance standards for documentation
- Experience using Jira (or similar project tracking tools) to manage documentation tasks, user stories, and sprint deliverables
