The Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing in-house software applications and integrations to meet business requirements. This includes coding, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and ensuring adherence to client development standards. The role emphasizes best practices, innovation, quality, and providing support for end-users as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Solution Design
- Serve as a team leader on large-scale application development projects and programs.
- Holistically design sustainable, long-term solutions across complex environments.
- Act as a Solution Lead/Technical Project Manager, coordinating with project managers and overseeing technical design.
- Mentor, coach, and train developers and junior team members.
- Provide guidance on coding standards, configuration, design, and quality assurance.
- Oversee and manage third-party/offshore development teams.
Development & Engineering
- Research, troubleshoot, configure, and maintain applications and interfaces.
- Design and implement system landscapes that are architecturally compliant.
- Create test scripts, execute tests, and support quality assurance initiatives.
- Perform code reviews to ensure compliance with coding standards.
- Apply best practices in software engineering and champion continuous improvement.
- Drive initiatives to enhance processes, lower costs, and improve system quality.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with business stakeholders and IT teams to define project requirements and priorities.
- Serve as liaison between Divisions/Functions and IT on projects and enhancements.
- Communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Facilitate meetings, present to executives, and provide status updates on progress and open issues.
- Educate teams on business goals and ensure alignment between business and technical objectives.
Process & Governance
- Lead the definition and documentation of business and technical processes.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities to automate or redesign business processes.
- Drive the Behavior-Driven Design (BDD) process and structure requirements for test automation.
- Ensure compliance with standards, governance, and project methodologies.
- Monitor project progress, resolve issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Record, analyze, and resolve recurring problems.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Research and recommend software and hardware products.
- Participate in trade shows, seminars, and demonstrations.
- Identify and implement process improvements for application development programs.
- Recommend alternative staffing models (offshore, third-party, gig) to reduce costs or improve quality.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of leading practices in software development and serve as a thought leader within clients.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree.
- 6+ years in software/application development or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience across the full SDLC, including new implementations and enhancements.
- Proven experience mentoring developers, leading projects, and improving code quality.
- Expertise with application interfaces (APIs, ESB, SAP PI, etc.).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical skills.
- Ability to lead large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to executives.
- Experience working with offshore and third-party teams.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery values and processes.
- Demonstrated executive presence, strategic mindset, and ability to influence outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Software Engineering.
- Wholesale/Distribution/CPG industry background, including AR, pricing, and tax laws.
- Experience leading offshore application development programs.
- Advanced facilitation skills and ability to influence executive stakeholders.
