Job Description:

Position Overview

The Service Delivery Manager (SDM) will lead managed Oracle DBA services for external enterprise clients, combining strategic client management, SLA governance, and hands on technical expertise as an Oracle DBA. This dual role ensures clients receive proactive, high performance database operations within a fully managed services model.

Key Responsibilities

Managed Service Delivery Leadership (60%)

Oversee end to end managed Oracle DBA service delivery across multiple client environments (SLAs, KPIs, service reports).

Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with client stakeholders and act as their escalation point.

Lead a global team of managed Oracle DBAs, ensuring consistent, SLA compliant performance.

Drive monthly/quarterly service review meetings, governance updates, and continuous service improvement plans.

Coordinate with cross functional teams (cloud, DevOps, security, networking) for smooth, integrated operations.

Manage operational budgets, utilization targets, capacity planning, and resource allocation.

Implement and monitor service centric automation frameworks for onboarding, scaling, and maintenance.

Oracle Exadata DBA Technical Contribution (40%)

Execute complex Oracle DBA tasks in client managed environments: installations, upgrades, patching, RAC/ASM/Data Guard setups.

Optimize multi tenancy and resource usage across on prem and cloud infrastructures (OCI, AWS, Azure).

Design/maintain automation for deployment, tuning, backups, monitoring, and alerts using Shell, Ansible, Terraform.

Oversee high availability and disaster recovery architectures across client database landscapes.

Rapidly respond to and resolve critical production incidents, supporting a 24/7 follow the sun model.

Ensure compliance with client standards, regulatory mandates, and managed service SLAs.

Qualifications/Essential:

Bachelor s/Master s in CS, Engineering, or related field.

15+ years in Oracle DBA roles; 10 +years in Service Delivery or Managed Services leadership.

Demonstrable experience managing client relationships and SLA performance in a managed services context.

Deep expertise: Oracle RAC, ASM, RMAN, Data Guard, GoldenGate, across versions 11g 19c+.

Proficiency with OCI, AWS RDS/Autonomous, or Azure DB managed platforms.

Experience with ITSM/ESM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira), and monitoring platforms (Oracle OEM, Dynatrace, Zabbix).

Strategic SLA ownership, governance, and real time issue resolution capability.

Oracle Exadata Database Machine Administrator with Patching, Tuning experience

This position is a senior Oracle and Oracle Exadata Database Administrator (DBA) in a centralized database administration team, which provides support in test/production environments.

The DBA is mainly responsible for maintaining highly visible production databases.

Responsibilities include designing, installing, upgrading, patching, tuning, monitoring and troubleshooting databases with large amounts of data

Good understanding of Exadata Architecture

Clear understanding of Exadata features

Solid exposure of Exadata hardware

Desirable:

Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)

ITIL v4 Foundation or higher

Certifications in cloud-hybrid DB platforms or security (e.g., AWS Database Specialty)
