Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Desktop Administrator to join our IT team. This is an onsite role located in Chicago, IL, where you will be responsible for managing and maintaining company-owned desktop devices, ensuring smooth operations for end users.

As a Desktop Administrator, you will perform a variety of tasks related to hardware and software support, with a focus on Windows operating systems. You will be a key player in maintaining the health of our IT infrastructure, ensuring employees can work efficiently with minimal disruptions. Your expertise in troubleshooting hardware issues, deploying operating systems, and managing PC assets will be critical in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hardware Support: Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.

  • Operating System Management: Work with Windows XP/7/10/11 operating systems, including imaging, deployment, and troubleshooting. Ensure all devices are running efficiently and securely.

  • PC Asset Management: Oversee the life cycle of company-owned devices, which includes:

    • Adding, moving, changing, updating, and reassigning company devices.

    • Performing regular device audits and ensuring all assets are accurately tracked.

  • Device Setup & Configuration: Perform installations, moves, adds, and changes (IMAC) to ensure all employees have the necessary equipment for their roles.

  • User Support: Provide on-site support to users for any hardware or software-related issues, ensuring timely resolutions and minimal disruption to productivity.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain up-to-date documentation for hardware setups, software configurations, and any changes made to the IT infrastructure.

  • Collaboration: Work with the IT team to ensure seamless integration of new devices and technology, and assist in troubleshooting more complex IT issues as needed.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of Windows XP/7/10/11 operating systems, with a focus on troubleshooting and imaging.

  • Basic hardware troubleshooting skills for desktops, laptops, and peripherals.

  • Experience with PC Asset Management, including device installation, reallocation, and lifecycle management.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks and projects.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with users at all levels.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in an onsite desktop support role or similar IT support position.

  • Experience with Active Directory, remote support tools, and ticketing systems.

  • IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), or similar.
